JAMMU, September 19: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha today held a meeting of its new working committee under the chairmanship of Romesh Chander Gupta at Mahajan Bhawan Shalamar Road, Jammu today.
The President, in his welcome address, said that all the members of the new working committee are the cream of the Mahajan community and hope they will do their best to improve the functioning of the Sabha.
Gupta further pointed out that the new land laws introduced by the government were discriminatory in nature. There are no such restrictions on community members living in another state or UT. Many attempts were made by the Mahajan Sabha and even knocked on the doors of the J&K UT administration to get the injustice quashed but failed to get justice.
All members of the working committee have decided to go out on the roads and organize a strong demonstration until this discriminatory order is withdrawn by the government.
Among other items on the agenda, it was decided to celebrate the birthdays of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan and Judge Mehar Chand Mahajan as usual. The report for the first quarter of 2021-22 was also adopted with one vote. Another important item on the agenda was to make some changes to the Sabha Constitution to meet current needs. The chamber decided that the president of the Sabha could form a committee of elite members to propose the required amendments.
